From the time that we wake up in the morning until the time that I sing to him at night Blaine wants nothing more from me than for me to take him outside. Blaine would prefer to be outside to eating, sleeping, watching tv, or playing with his numerous indoor toys...this works out well because I LOVE being outside too. I am learning to use his love of the outdoors as an advantage for me and get my workouts in and just include him in them...like taking him for a hike in the jogging stroller. Blaine is almost 15 months old and he already has his first (of many I am sure) farmers tan...I noticed this on the back of his neck the other night at bath time. Another love that Blaine has discovered is the love of the four wheeler or the "a-wa-wa" as he would call it. If he hears it crank up and he is in the house he falls to pieces...if he sees his daddy on it he runs after it and throws a fit...he LOVES the BIG four wheeler. We have one slight problem these days...our yard was just plowed up because we are doing some drainage work, putting in a fence, and getting ready to do some major landscaping so our yard is a mess...there are parts of the yard that he cannot walk in...and this makes being outside high maintenance. This is unfortunate because outside used to be the ONE place that we could go to get away from the "NOs".

In other news Blaine weighed 22 lbs at his last check up was 34 inches long so all looks normal...he is long and skinny as he has always been!! Blaine is talking so much these days and this is one of my favorite things about having an almost 16 month old!! He has learned to imitate some of his favorite shows, like on Little Einsteins they do the "pat pat pat pat" blast off....and he does that, he says "Daisy", he says "cup", "boo boo", he mimics us singing the 8 little monkeys song, he says "head" "eyes" "nose", and loves to sing the "head, shoulders, knees, and toes" song...he knows the different sounds that animals like cows, lion, dog, make...he really LOVES animals!!! I am so impressed and intrigued by what he understands everyday!! We are not potty training by any means but we did purchase a little potty for the bathroom. I plan on letting Blaine sit on it before he gets in the bath tub each night just to get used to it, and to get into a routine. He is already telling me that he has used the bathroom in his pants...(mainly #2 - which is probably TMI) and we have discussed "PP" in his diaper. He is far from ready, but we are beginning to lay the ground work for it. Jason and I have approached each change sleeping, weening from night time feedings, weening from the bottle, as a process and in all cases our approach has worked well...so we will take the same approach with this, I figure with another 6 months (at the most) of ground work we will reevaluate where we stand. I do think that it is important not to start too early, so we will be following his lead...Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8260693234479806422.post-28814965607477224862010-03-27T21:45:00.003-04:002011-01-31T08:42:46.400-05:00Where are you sunshine...

I just wanted to share some pictures from last weekend. I know that my posts are usually lengthy with words...but I'll make this one short. I am missing the sunshine this weekend...last weekend spoiled us with warm temperatures and sunshine...but they will be back next weekend. Last weekend we took our first trip(s) to the park on Saturday AND Sunday. Blaine had his first milkshake on Saturday and happy meal on Sunday. We had a BLAST swinging, sliding, and running...I LOVE Spring time...There are a few more pictures of Blaine doing his "cheesy" grin...

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; Blaine has become quite the talker...most of the time WE know what he is saying...although the average outsider wouldn't have a clue. Blaine also LOVES to climb. I walked in his nursery the other day while his was playing WAAAAAAAYYY too quietly and he was standing up in the recliner...Often we see him standing on top of Daisy to get in the chair or on the sofa...he is quite resourceful. In the video I was trying to catch him doing this...but of course he never did it while I was filming...but either way he is still really cute!!! : ) We took this right before bedtime and Blaine has just learned how to push the button on Donald Duck's foot to make him sing : ) .

Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8260693234479806422.post-54845145953583740282010-03-07T20:32:00.000-05:002010-03-07T20:32:00.264-05:00Two in one week...WHOA!!All of the Dawes' had a great weekend this weekend!! Jason had class all week in Greenville so we were really lucky to have him at home this weekend, AND he will be home ALL week : ). Friday evening we had dinner with Jason's parents and enjoyed some Wii fun and just hanging out!! Saturday was a BEAUTIFUL day and Jason and I were determined to get outside and enjoy some of it. We bounced out of bed on Saturday and worked so well together to get the house cleaned, and I mean REALLY cleaned...all with Mr. Blaine following behind the two of us. Afterward we went outside and play, play, played. We walked all over the yard, played on the slide, visited Maverick, checked our trees, Blaine rode his little 4-wheeler, climbed the front steps (100 times) walked to grandmas, rode the 4-wheeler to the farm saw the ducks, and pigs, and geese...it was a grand day.

Today we all got up and headed to Sunday school...afterward we went to my parent's house and visited with my parents and Al, Melissa, and Jackson. We played a lot outside and my parent's house too and Jason and I even napped on the sofa while Mom played outside with Blaine and Mel and Jackson napped in the recliner. It was truly a lazy Sunday. Afterward we headed to the Winder's what was suppose to be a very casual supper (we were suppose to eat pizza - takeout). Kim and I had discussed doing take out so that we could have plenty of time to visit with each other and not stress about cooking...of course she decided that lasagna sounded much better - and I have to admit it ROCKED!! I took some pictures of Miss Anniston, and even managed to get one of she and Blaine although I don't think that they were both looking at the camera...It was such a lovely weekend, I'm so looking forward to many more warm ones...I am dying to get our yard straightened out!!!
I am not really sure how to deal with this, but I am trying a few different strategies...we'll see how they go. The last thing I want is "that child" that hits someone Else's child, or that acts like a complete brat for NO apparent reason. I'll keep you posted on how things go...I'll even try to catch a video of one of his melt downs and I'll take discipline suggestions. I really don't want to pop him (because I feel like this validates the hitting behavior) and I don't think that he understands time out yet....
WOWSA...that was the LONGEST run on sentence ever...but I do not write this blog to be grammatically correct, so please forgive my mistakes as I go. Either way, I randomly took some pictures of Blaine tonight because I realized that I had not taken any since the last snow which was a few weeks ago...I know, shame on me!! I guess once he started walking he seems to have slowed down with all of the other physical changes...and I have been running after him ever since...
Blaine has had a bit of a runny nose since this weekend, and has learned a new "camera face". He as suddenly become TRULY aware of the camera's presence which I love and hate at the same time. I love that he as learned something...but I could do without the same face in every single picture that he knows is being taken...I think that HE thinks it's the cutest face EVER!!
However, in other news Blaine has THREE, yes THREE new teeth on the way...there is one new one on the bottom and two on the top that are really trying to make an appearance. You can see evidence of this in his pictures. It is amazing to me how LONG it seems to take his teeth to come in, but Dr. Brantley continues to assure me that this will all be for the best later...but it still makes me worry for now.

Recently Blaine went through a period of time that he was refusing to eat. It seemed as though he would eat breakfast fairly well...drink his milk pretty well...but he refused to eat lunch and dinner, almost AT ALL...
Well, it looks like we have finally gotten over that...the appetite is definitely back...with a vengeance!

The weekends have been pretty mundane as the weather has been rather yucky, but I have enjoyed spending some time at home with Jason and Blaine. I have had SOOOOO much graduate school work to do...the week before Spring Break is always a little difficult, but I always look forward to getting it over with because it's like getting over the hump of the semester. I only have a little more left, and I will be finished with school FOREVER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I love being at peace with my place in life, it is the most amazing feeling that I have ever experienced!

One last thing that Blaine has discovered a love for is riding Miss Daisy...he loves to get on her back and bounce...as if she is going to go somewhere. In the past Jason as always forced her to "stay", however we have discovered that Blaine also likes to do this unsupervised and that Daisy doesn't understand to "stay" when she isn't being told to...so there have been some near accidents when she has gotten up with Blaine on her back. So we are working on that...oh and the face...again...

I cannot really say that there is a lot of REAL talking going on right now, but there is a whole lot of understanding going on. I can tell Blaine to do specific things and it is clear that he understands. I can tell him that we are going "bye-bye" and he goes to stand by the coat closet waiting for me to put his coat on. I can tell Blaine that it's time to take a nap and he will go and stand by the crib and and grin (he LOVES to sleep) : ) . I can tell him that it's time to go Night-Night and he goes to stand by the recliner in his room to read his night time book...he LOVES his snuggle book (and sleep)...I ask him is he is hungry, he stands by his high chair, we talk about bath time, - you guessed it he stands by the tub. Blaine LOVES to read...I tell him to get a book he gets a book and "backs the bus up" to someones lap. In fact - just a quick funny story Blaine - ALL day long grabs book and looks for laps to read them in...I had a girls mornings planned for myself and a couple of other girls here a few weeks ago and my friend Erin brought her young child that is sitting up - Hunter. Erin sat Hunter in the floor and Blaine decided to sit in Hunter's lap...and he did it more than once...it was funny...and embarrassing after he knocked little Hunter over. : ) He even tried to do it to cousin Jackson more recently...Unknownnoreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8260693234479806422.post-82026722266435764832010-02-13T21:39:00.008-05:002010-02-21T21:28:33.909-05:00First, Catch up!!So I have been gone for waaaaaaay too long...and a lot has happened since I last posted. After Blaine's first Christmas (which I believe was my last post). The day after Christmas a I got a call to interview for a new job. I really didn't think it was going to go anywhere (even though I wanted it to), but I knew that I needed the interview experience so I went ahead and interviewed. Much to my surprise I ended up getting the counselor position at Edgecombe Early College and all that I can say is WOW, what a difference having a job that you love makes!! I really love getting up in the morning and going to work, and I have to say that I have not had this feeling in a long time. I love that Blaine gets his "best mom" every afternoon when I get off work, and that was the plan all along this journey!!

OK after the new job Blaine celebrated his first Birthday and it was a BLAST!! I think it was a tiring day, but a day that I will never forget. There were a lot of emotions stirred in me during this first birthday celebration, but more than anything I cannot believe where time went...

Make a Smilebox free photo slideshow

I have a slide show that I made for Blaine's birthday that I plan on posting I have just had difficulty getting it formatted correctly so that it'll post directly to the blog. The slide show was made of pictures from Blaine's first year of life : ) and I cried many times in the process of making it, but it was such a joy to to relive those moments. Blaine also got his first tooth right around that first birthday party and I have to admit we were quite relieved as we had been anticipating the arrival of this first tooth for a LONG time. Blaine got lots of fun toys and BOOKS, Blaine LOVES books!! He even got some outdoor toys that we can't WAIT to play with!!

Blaine also had a chance to experience his first "snow day". We took him out and honestly he really hated it. I think that part of him "hating it" was the fact that he woke up from his nap, we threw him in 10 layers and clothes, offered him no milk (b/c we were so excited) and took him outside. One fall down with hands in the snow and he was D O N E. I have a few pictures that we did manage to get of Blaine playing in the "sneet" - snow and sleet. We have learned that Blaine LOVES daddy's big 4-wheeler, every time Jason turns it on he is ready to ride and throws a fit if he doesn't get his way. : )

Blaine is starting to be much more vocal about the things that he likes and dislikes and is really giving us a hard time about eating. Anyone that knows Blaine knows that this is really unusual because he used to be such an awesome eater. He would eat 2 large jars of baby food, plus yogurt with juice and is suddenly refusing to eat some things. We put green beans in his mouth, he spits them out or literally takes them out with his hands. . . we just keep trying different foods, but this is tough!! Jason made him a stir fry with squash, zuchinni, turkey sausage, and bell pepper the other night though, and he at the mess out of it, it was unreal!! I think that he is realizing that he actually has an opinion about what he eats.

Blaine weighs around 20 lbs right now and is about 27-28 inches long, he is growing so much faster than I ever though he was. . . . someone has hit the fast forward button in my life, wish they would hit pause NOW!!

My Mom and dad brought over a gift for Blaine today - in the snow : ) A bird feeder!! They put it outside of his room so that he can see it out of his window, or the dining area window. I know that the birds really appreciated the bird seed, and Blaine peeks out regularly at it to see what is going on. While my parents were here my dad was throwing snow balls at the back storm door while Blaine was standing at the door. After they left he kept going back to see if someone was going to throw snow balls at him again. : ) We were able to get out in the snow a little later on today to walk over to Jason's Mom and Dads for some supper (black eyed peas, pork, green beans, and mashed sweet potatoes) NICE!! Blaine seemed to like the snow a little more (I suspect because it was a bit warmer today and there wasn't snow coming from the sky. He liked looking at his footprints in the snow, and the new big thing is going up and down the steps on the porch.

I am sure that this was all a little boring with the catch up, so I promise to try and be more captivating with my posts in weeks to come. . .Unknownnoreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8260693234479806422.post-59660935694137992752009-12-20T20:01:00.011-05:002009-12-25T23:09:04.366-05:00The first of many. . .We began our Christmas celebrating with a visit from Jason's Uncle Lee. This is an opportunity for me to remember my cousin Brandon that was killed in a car accident May 23, 1997. This happens to be his birthday, and he would have been the big 3-0 this year!! It was nice to see my family and for Blaine to see some of my side of the family that he doesn't get to see too often.

On the 24th we usually try to get together and my Mom and Dad's but this year we began WAY sooner than we normally do, considering the two new babies that we added to our family since last Christmas...WOW what a difference a year makes, we do EVERYTHING a little earlier now! Blaine had a chance to play with grandma and grandpa Anderson and got LOT'S of gifts. My Mom and Dad bought Blaine AND Jackson Britax carseats for Christmas. Both of them needed new carseats and Melissa and I picked out the ones that we liked. Mom and Dad are very practical gift givers, so we asked for these for our boys!! : ) We chose the Britax Boulevard car seats

Blaine also got a really neat dry erase table and chairs from his grand-mama and granddaddy Anderson, as well as some blocks. I think his favorite was the guitar!!
Today was an awesome day . . . What joy I experienced today being with our families, and watching Blaine enjoy his first Christmas Day. This morning started off with my parent's and Jason's parent's coming over. . . . I put a breakfast casserole in the oven, and right at 7:00 am as expected Blaine woke up. I fed Blaine in his nursery, and then Jason (who had just gotten off of work) brought him out as I videoed:

Santa brought Blaine a thomas the train tent, a ride on dump truck, and electric 4-wheeler, coloring books, crayons, finger paint, play-doh, blocks, bubble bath, and lots of other little goodies. It was so much fun to see him overwhelmed with so many people here when he woke up and with all of the "stuff" in the living room. We had so much fun this morning watching Blaine, eating breakfast casserole and soaking in this almost one year old wonder!!

After Blaine had some time to play with his toys he went down for his morning nap. Once he got up we went to Jason's Mom and Dad's for Christmas there. It was so much fun!! We took ALL afternoon to open Blaine's gifts, and mine and Jason's. It was nice to do this at our leisure. We stopped several times for bathroom breaks, snack breaks, and Blaine took a nap break!! : ) We didn't rush...we enjoyed every moment of it!!

Blaine got so many different things...books, baby Einstein videos, a cool toy that has a "ride" that responds and makes things happen on the TV - can't remember the exact name of it, a "big boy chair with his name on it from Pottery Barn Kids, lot's of cute clothes, a "farm house", and the list goes on and on and on. . . here are a FEW pictures from the visit. . .

Jason and I also got SO MUCH STUFF from Santa *wink* *wink* : ) I got some Danskos that I have wanted for a LONG time!! This Christmas was obviously not about us, but Santa made sure that we weren't forgotten!!

I tried to post more pics, but I guess I ran out of room . . . .we had such an awesome Christmas and it was simply amazing how much MORE fun it was having Blaine. A baby changes EVERYTHING!! Now off to planning Blaine's first Birthday!! : )Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8260693234479806422.post-25422973321130945422009-12-13T20:47:00.016-05:002009-12-16T08:42:23.377-05:00Good, not perfect, but really good...Blaine is changing faster than the speed of light!! I cannot get over how much he comprehends, even more than he can tell me right now. With the addition of the Christmas tree you can imagine that things got interesting...well really they didn't. From the very beginning Blaine really didn't bother the tree so much. I'm not sure if it's because he had already has his little tree for sometime (and it has COLORED LIGHTS...) OR if he really just wasn't that impressed with the tree, either way he hasn't made a huge fuss about our tree in the living room. We really watched him carefully in the very beginning and really made a big deal out of telling him "NO" about the touching the tree. We said you can look at the tree but no touching...we would say "NO NO, OHHHH NO" about touching the tree while making the gesture with our hand no no...now he looks at ANYTHING that we have ever told him no about and he makes the no no gesture. : ) It's amazing how quickly they learn isn't it???

Blaine is such a good baby...he is so pleasant and fun loving...he laughs and smiles constantly and is always thinking and MOVING!!! I am learning so much as a Mom. So much about picking my battles, and making sure that I pick the important ones, and go with the flow (so not my personality believe it or not). I have learned a lot from Jason about being a good parent, so much about letting some things go and focusing on what is important 10 min. from now. I am so lucky to have a husband that is invested in our family, even though he isn't here every afternoon or night (which I hate). I have to admit, I get frustrated some times when I'm here and it's only me..I occasionally resent the fact that he has someone (me) to make major decisions and worry about the logistics of life...but I also realize when he comes home and takes over, how lucky I am to have a husband that is capable and willing to let me have a few minutes to myself to have a bath, or a phone conversation, a lot of women don't have that.

ANYWAY... we had a great week and weekend...my Mom's family gathered here on Saturday. All of my Mom's siblings showed up, and even a few of us cousins to chat and catch up on what's going on with all of us in the last ummm...10 years : ) I LOVED it...I loved the chance to see everyone, talk to them, and reminisce about our parents/grandparents. We got to see Cailynn, Blaine's cousin, and Blaine had a BLAST with her. It was the first time that he had had the opportunity to be around another child so close to his own age, and it was FUN to watch. I cannot believe that I didn't get a picture, but I was really busy keeping up with Blaine...you have to have your eyes on him ALL the time...Jason and I took turns and I was busy catching my breath when I wasn't directly involved in what was going on. In fact the ONLY picture that I captured of the evening was this one...

I love my family, and i am so thankful that I was able to spend time with them. I speak often about trying to soak "it" all in. I hear people say all the time that they can't remember when their child was Blaine's age. I know that I will at some point have difficulty recalling some events, but I at least want to stop and revel in what is happening as it happens. I never want to wish this time in my life away, as difficult as it can be at times.

Earlier in the week we had a nice evening with Brandon and Jessica, Jim, and Courtney. We are so blessed to have friends that so willingly come our way so that Blaine can sleep in his own bed, same routine, no babysitter...we love them!! : ) We had a lovely dinner (turkey loin), and played some Guestures : ) It was fun, and if I remember correctly the GIRLS dominated!! : ) Either way we really enjoyed remembering that we are more than husband, wife, mother and father...we all need those moments...

This weekend Jason was off again!!! Friday Jason cooked tacos for us, and watched Blaine while I winded down from a long work week. Saturday Jason had planned an early morning duck hunt, but he opted out because of the weather... (later his hunting buddies called and said that they had a great hunt). We stayed at home all day (most of the day in PAJAMAS...YAY!!!), but walked next door to Jason's parents for Chinese food Saturday evening...Today we went to the early service at Jason's family's church, and came home and napped while Blaine napped before Jason had to go to work. I went to my Mom's to prepare for our Saturday gathering with my Mom's side of the family at our house. I am so excited for Mom's side of the family to get together...we haven't really done anything just for her family since my grandparents died many years ago. I want Blaine to know everyone in his family, and I want us to build some Christmas traditions that he can look forward to every year...I think that is an important part of a child's life...it certainly was mine!! I hope that next year we can do something to include my Dad's side of the family...I just thought it would be a bit much to do two gatherings the first year...but we are going to work on it for sure!! Today I spent the afternoon with my Mom and Melissa making all of the fixings for our first "Robinson" family gathering in a few years...we made some "green" punch that I LOVE, and peanut butter chocolate cookies. I know I say it often but I really wish that Al and Melissa, and Jackson lived closer!! Blaine made it through the day on one nap (much to my dismay). When we got home we went to Jason's Mom and ate navy beans and salty ham biscuits : ) I will pay for this tomorrow when I weigh in and have retained a pound of fluid...

10 more days til' Christmas vacation!!!

I am so lucky to have Jason as a husband. We are so different in so many ways, and I think that that is what makes us good together. Being different offers it's challenges...I am a type A get it done RIGHT NOW kinda person. Jason is a ummm type Z I'll get to it go with the flow kinda person. However a rainy day = Jason has nothing better to do/becomes a type A person...worked out well so we finally got a couple of things on the wall that I had been waiting to get up. We hung Blaine's name in his nursery (sorry no pic, he was in bed when I finally thought about it), and we put the "some people don't believe in heroes but they haven't met my dad" saying up that was in Blaine's original nursery - we loved it so much that we but it up in his new room. Still a lot left to do, but we are taking baby steps...We did get Blaine's Christmas pictures up too, I haven't decided where to put my portrait yet, but that's in the works...I love my husband!!

Here are a couple of pictures and a video from the week. Blaine is walking or should I say almost RUNNING now...he goes all over the house from one end to the next all day long. He is eating more and more table food, but still doesn't have any teeth...I know they are coming soon though he is drooling more and more and continues his daily low grade fever...I love him more and more every day (which is really scary)!!!

Blaine started to do this crazy thing with is arm while he was walking and Jason and I were trying to capture it on video. He is cruisin' just watch...

Blaine enjoyed the mess while I cleaned his closet out!! : ) I know, already and we just moved in less than 2 months ago...found this elmer fudd hat that is a newborn size : ) he has a small head...but very proportional hahahaha

Jason took this picture during the week while he was keeping Blaine...he LOVES Daisy's bed...we have even thought of getting him his own for Christmas!!

Unknownnoreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8260693234479806422.post-85851220763271086422009-11-27T20:25:00.020-05:002009-12-09T20:27:29.255-05:00Thanksgiving, Wine, Lights, Trees, and Wreaths...and a BUSY 10 month old...We are a blessed family. I thought of how blessed we are so many times over the Thanksgiving holiday more than I ever have. My family has so much to be thankful for...let me attempt to make a list:
I cannot write one single thing that I am thankful for before my son, Blaine. Blaine in his short 10 months of life has brought so much joy to mine, and Jason's life. I am simply incapable of realizing my life without him in it every single day. Jason and I both have healthy parents that are able to take care of themselves, and that still take care of us in so many ways. Jason and I both have mothers that are the heart of our families...they have created strong traditions that Al and I enjoy, and look forward to every year, and fathers that work very hard to provide for their families. I have a new nephew Jackson Lee that has brought our family even closer together I have to say that 2009 has been so good to the Anderson family. We have been blessed with two happy and healthy little boys that I hope will grow up to love one another, and share even a fraction of the bond that Al and I ( and Melissa and Nathan) share. I realize that they are not brothers, but they are as close as you can get without being brothers. Jason and I both have jobs that we have worked very hard for, a home that is nicer than anything we ever imagined we would have. We have an exteneded family that supports us, and that love Blaine so much. I am blessed that my child stays with someone that loves him nearly as much as I do (probably as close as it can come without being a child's mother). I could go on and on, AND ON...

This week was wonderful, and I'm gonna water it down a bit for the sake of time. My vacation started on Thanksgiving Day. This was Jason's first Thanksgiving off of work in all of the years we have been together, and it was awesome. We joined my Mom and Dad for Thanksgiving lunch...my Mom made collards (one of my most favorite things in the entire world), and cracker cake (my other most favoritest thing) : ) After hanging out with them a while Jason and I came home, rested up, and headed to his Mom's for Thanksgiving supper. Blaine was such a trooper even through the lack of schedule ( we are very schedule oriented, which def. has its downside). Afterward Jason's parents came over to hang out, and ended up helping to decorate our Christmas tree...it was rough, but fun : ) I believe that there are over 2000 lights on our Christmas Tree, and it is beautiful (the picture does not do it justice!!!) : )

Friday we had Turkey Day leftovers at Jason's Mom's and it was delish. We joke that Blaine turns in to a whiny pumpkin at 7:00 (his bedtime) IF he is not in bed. However, even though Blaine def. did turn into a pumpkin we had such a good time with them. Sunday was an unusually quiet Sunday. Jason worked 3rd last night so I napped with him a couple of times today (during Blaine's naps). I did manage to get some laundry done, make a meatloaf for supper, and play with Blaine. I didn't make it to church or Mom's today, but I did make time to do some school work so that my week will go smoothly.

Blaine has been walking everywhere...although still "wobbly" he is doing really well. I am also starting to hear some mimicking with speech going on. Blaine is attempting to say what I am saying, but he is obviously having difficulty putting those syllables together. Today we actually went outside and enjoyed the beautiful weather as I chased Blaine in the wide open space. Blaine LOVES the outdoors!!

I have LOVED this first Thanksgiving...Blaine ate some turkey, lot's of mashed potatoes, and sweet potatoes, and still managed to stay on a sort of schedule. : ) Happy Thanksgiving to all, and Merry Christmas too...here are a few random pics from the week...

Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8260693234479806422.post-43266069882054738932009-11-24T20:41:00.007-05:002009-12-09T20:27:29.258-05:00A tiny bit late...Whew...I have been spending a lot of my "technology" time working on a top secret project that I'll share soon...BUT I did want to take the time to share a little bit about last week and weekend.

Blaine is busier than ever (which means that I am too) : ) , he spends most of his time now walking all around...with very little crawling in between. Blaine is really enjoying his new found independence and his favorite thing to do is go from the living room to the hallway and into his room and back. I have a video of him that Jason took...it's the longest video that we have been able to capture...

Jason is always good at catching all of the good videos so here is another one of Blaine just laughing...it's kind of funny because Blaine gets so silly when he gets sleepy. : )

Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8260693234479806422.post-643008930471438202009-11-14T21:19:00.027-05:002009-11-15T16:10:27.052-05:00Finally a video...all about Blaine...and a lot of pictures...I usually do not post much about what happens during the week...this is for a lot of reasons. First of all I am totally wrapped up in school Monday and Tuesday nights, and depending on Jason's schedule for the week i am totally consumed with Blaine and laundry...However, this week I was blessed with a midweek break. Because over the weekend Jason worked third shift I was unable to do my "weekend cleaning" so I caught up on Wednesday. When I clean I just include Blaine in the process. I vacuum and Blaine follows me around....I dust...and Blaine....follows me around. Blaine is a part of everything that I do, and I like it that way. From the very beginning Jason and I have made a go of this "parent thing" alone. We made it through the first weeks all by ourselves, because that is what I wanted. I wanted Jason and I to do this together and bond together, and with Blaine...and there is no doubt that that happened. I realize that this is NOT how everyone chooses to make the journey, but we did. Now, I must admit that at times this is not the easy route, but this is us... So I continue to take care of Blaine almost EVERY free moment that I have because he is my son, and my responsiblity, and I want to be the biggest influence in his life....WOW, what a tangent...lets get back to the week...Here are a couple of pictures of Blaine "helping me clean". He had a little infatuation with unraveling the toilet paper as we went along...but he loves the vacuum cleaner too!!

So Saturday Blaine got his first big boy haircut...yep, my (almost) ten month old got his first haircut, and yes for all of you traditionalists (I am NOT) my child got a haircut before his 1 year birthday. Let me say I have a secret dislike of boys with long hair. Please do not ever share this with Blaine because surely he will grow the longest hair ever if he hears that...but his hair was beginning to grow over his ears, and was "straggly" in the front and in the back. There was also the looming "mullet like" thickness around the back too...so I decided to schedule an appointment with our hairdresser...the fabulous Meiling. Jason and I (Jason is behind the camera) took Blaine in Saturday morning and got him all trimmed up, and he looks so precious...here are a few pics from the process....

Blaine did GREAT, and Meiling even used the clippers. Blaine occassionally tried to turn around to see what in the world all that buzzing was behind his ears, but he hung in there for a long time. Let me add that Jason INSISTED that I take some of the hair so that he could tape it in Blaine's baby book. I am not a traditionalist so I was just gonna throw the hair in the trash...guess we'll see if Blaine really cares about that hair in 20 years : )

On Saturday while Blaine and I were playing he finally showed some interest in his Indian gear that his grandma Dawes brought him back from the mountains. He actually kept those feathers on his head for a while. Daisy was a little concerned at one point that the feathers might be a duck so she had to check them out!!! : ) As you will see they didn't last long before Blaine took them off...

I am NOT ready to put all of our Christmas decorations up yet, however my coworker Robert gave Blaine a Christmas Tree for his room, and it had colored lights!!! So Blaine has his very own tree with his very own decorations. Robert has single handedly decorated my house for the fall (Halloween and Thanksgiving) and has now almost taken care of Christmas. Robert gave me window candles for almost all of my downstairs windows, icicle lights for the outside (that I am trying to convince Jason to put up) and other Christmas goodies...for the rest of the house. When you go to Robert's house during the Holidays it is Christmas, and I want our house to feel like Christmas too. I always want Blaine to remember Christmas as a warm family holiday with all of the smells and sounds of Christmas. So a BIG thank you goes out to him for warming our home... I don't usually use colored lights on our "Big Christmas Tree" so I thought that it would be nice to put the tree in Blaine's room. Blaine anfd I had fun putting up the Christmas tree in his room. I know that I'm probably a little "looney" but I thought that it might be a good idea to put his Christmas tree up so that he could see the lights and perhaps we could do some desensitization about it before we put up the big tree...whew...we'll see I guess...OK, so I know that I'm fooling myself it's gonna be rough trying to keep him out of the Christmas Tree!!

It's amazing that I remember this time last year when I was so miserable...I was desperate for Blaine to come, and come SOON!! We speculated about all of the things that he would be doing by this Christmas, and let me say he has already exceeded all of our expectations.

Blaine also learned to clap his hands...When I got up with Blaine Friday morning I was talking to him and Playing with him...I was clapping his hands together and he started to clap them on his own. I know that Blaine's grandma loves to play patty cake with him so I think he is finally catching on...and he KNOWS that I love it!! Here is a little video of him "clapping his hands" : )'

Blaine has been "starting to walk" now for the last several weeks. He is now at the point that he walks a couple of steps and stops to catch his balance and continues... I have been struggling to capture this on video probably because I am ooooing and ahhhhhing while he is actually doing it and not worrying about capturing it on video...BUT here is my first even close to catchin' it...WARNING you'll have to turn your head to see some of it...

So here are a couple of steps.

Tomorrow we have our Christmas pictures with Bill Goode. Susan is Jason's Aunt that lives in South Carolina. Susan also has a husband Haverson, and a son, Travis. Whenever Susan comes home family time is in full swing, and I love it!!

Friday night we all went out to eat at Stacks in Tarboro, for Greg and Cindy's 32nd Anniversary!!! Stacks is owned by one of Greg's golfing buddies...and the location of mine and Jason's wedding reception almost three years ago. We were lucky enough to be seated in the "green" room so Blaine's loud yells (happy yells I might add) didn't disturb others that were eating. When we got home we put Blaine almost straight to bed and i reeelllaaxxxed!!! It was nice.

Saturday morning I shopped with Jason's Mom and Aunt for Jason's grandma's birthday. We went to Belks and then to Kenilworth for their Christmas open house. I loved looking at the Christmas decorations, and being with Jason's Mom and Aunt. Afterward we headed to Amy's Hallmark and Harris Teeter. Blaine was such a trooper, but once were on the way home he knocked OUT!!

My cousin Laurie came to visit that afternoon and we got to spend some time with she and Steven's new baby boy Connor Bradley. Connor is such a cutie and Blaine was quite curious about him. Later on we went to the farm for Jason's grandma's birthday get together. We had an awesome dinner, Blaine was exhausted and fell asleep in Greg's arms...which is very unusual for him...

Sunday was a day of relaxing for us all. I went to church and to visit my Mom. The church pew was a bit bare this week, was just me by myself :( Blaine was in the nursery. Afterward I visited with my Mom for a while and headed on back home so that Blaine could get an afternoon nap. While Blaine napped Jason and I actually watched some TV : ) that doesn't happen often!! Sunday afternoon Brandon and Jessica came over and we grilled some venison on the grill and Brandon made a venison roast, it was all delicious!!

Blaine did a great job trying to walk all weekend and at one point took about 10 steps (that I saw). I noticed that he has learned to take a step, balance and then go on instead of just trying to run and falling. I don't think that it will be much longer before he just takes off. It's gonna be a challenge keeping Blaine out of the Christmas tree this year!! Blaine is also babbling so much, I think that I hear the beginning of words like "Daisy", and "book"....whatever it is that he is talking about he can get really serious sometimes. Still no teeth yet, but boy are we slobbering now...

I also got in the accent chair that I ordered several weeks ago, and I am so pleased with the way that it turned out....here's a pic...
.

Unknownnoreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8260693234479806422.post-31422017503170412012009-11-01T20:42:00.027-05:002009-11-03T19:49:36.719-05:00Too old for this...In many ways I realized this weekend that I am too old for this...

On Friday I didn't work, and it was WONDERFUL. Friday was a planning day at school and instead of completing the HOURS of work that will be waiting for me on Monday I decided to spend some time with my boys (Jason was off YAY!!). On Friday Jason and I worked around the house..I spent a lot of time with Blaine while I cleaned the house...Blaine just followed me around while I cleaned. Have I mentioned how much EASIER it is to keep a house clean when you have so much more space? Kinda crazy b/c you would think the opposite. Jason and I also picked out our storm doors at Lowes (which took WAY longer than it should have) and went to the downtown trick or treat in Tarboro (Blaine made the front page of the Daily Southerner...check it out here). I love the historic district of Tarboro!! We visited a couple of businesses downtown that are owned by people that are our friends. Candy was being handed out, but we told them to save it for other children that could actually eat it. After we put a tired and very ILL Blaine to bed we had our friends Jessica and Brandon over for a fire on the patio and we just hung out and enjoyed each others' company. We really enjoy hanging out with Jessica and Brandon they are so down to earth and real. I stayed up way too late though, and had an early morning with Blaine...I'm getting too old for this...

I had a bit of a "falling out" with one of my friends - brought on mainly by me. I had been feeling over the last year or so like my friend was not contributing equally to our relationship and I have made a lot of efforts to try and reach out to this friend, I got frustrated. Unfortunately apparently this "friend" did not desire to have the same relationship with me that I wanted. After more than a year of being the only one to call and check in,email to just say how are you I'm D O N E. I will try in the mean time not to allow myself to be angry with her, I realize that some people just don't let people in, they are so wrapped up in their own existence that the only people that are in their lives are the ones that will give give and keep on giving some more...and I realize that I need a friend in return...a relationship that is mutually beneficial. It does make me sad though, that this relationship has forever changed. I have learned a few valuable lessons through the ending of this relationship...

1. Just because you consider yourself close to someone that doesn't mean that they desire that same relationship with you.
2. You cannot make anyone (a friend, a companion, no one) feel the same way about you as you do them.
3. This hurts your feelings, but it's ok once you realize where you stand with the person it is much easier to accept the relationship for what it is and MOVE ON...
4. Confrontation is not always the right way to go about "resolving" this... sometimes if you just leave it alone the end result is the same...the relationship just dies either way...
5. There are some people that think that their lives are harder than EVERYONE around them...and they might be right???
6. I am too old for this...

I will choose not to hold a grudge, but not to invest emotion in this relationship anymore...
I think that in relationships we begin to assess how much we give vs. how much support we get and my cost was far out weighing the benefits, and that's ok...now I know...

Saturday was a nice day...we had a lot of company...Al, Melissa, and Jackson came by early and we all went to lunch - which ended up being quite eventful. Jackson interrupted Melissa lunch for an unscheduled bathroom visit that took a while to clean up : ) ...we did manage later in the afternoon to get them both in their costumes and snap a couple of pictures. Jackson's costume was quite elaborate and he lost his patience fairly quickly. Saturday evening we "trick or treated" at Jason's Moms, put Blaine to bed and Jim and Courtney (2 of our friends) came over and we went to a Halloween party at Chris and Kristy's house. They really put a lot of effort into getting this party together and we enjoyed every minute of it...there was a nice bonfire, a scary hay ride, and good food!!! I hope that this will become an annual event. Jason's Mom was gracious enough to watch Blaine for us on Thursday (we went to the Trail of Terror) and Saturday for the party. I am so blessed with a mother in law that is so helpful, and so gracious about keeping Blaine...we love her...words cannot even begin to explain how fortunate I am that I can lay my child to bed in his OWN bed, and go somewhere and hang out with our friends. When we returned from the party we sat out on the back patio and enjoyed the fire and good company (I went to bed fairly quickly though). I am REALLY getting too old for THIS!!!

Blaine no longer drinks out of a bottle...I know it's kinda crazy for a 9 month old, but this was his choice. We have been working with the sippy cup for over a month now, and I have tried several different types. Blaine really did well with the Platex newby cup and I thought it might be nice to start to give him his milk maybe once a day with the new cup and he did so great that he now gets all of his milk and the little bit of juice that he does get in the cup. Blaine also took several steps that I saw with my own eyes this weekend about 5 or 6 in a row on one occasion. I tried and tried to catch it on video but I was only able to catch a little bit of cute video...no real steps. Here is a tiny bit of all of my tries to catch it...

This first video is our futile attempt at getting video of Blaine walking...it was the closest that we came...

This video is Blaine's new party trick...shutting the door behind himself : )

On Rainy Sunday Jason and I stayed CLOSE to home...we went to Jason's Mom for Chili, and hung out there for a long time (they had a FIRE : ). Jason was off this weekend so it was nearly perfect!! I LOVE it when we are lucky enough to have a weekend off together, for some it may seem trivial but for us it is so nice. We go to bed at the same times, wake up at the same times, and we are quite the team getting so much accomplished. On Friday we stayed home and got a few things done around the house. Saturday was super productive. Jason and I finished up hanging the bathroom mirrors, got a FEW pictures on the wall. Our patio in the back is complete now so we gave our patio furniture a fresh coat of paint and arranged it outside. We still want to get some rocking chairs for our front and back porch, and we'll get there...just a little at the time. Jason did some work in his "man room" too, he is so excited about it. We got a lot done in the house...lots of cleaning lots of finishing up projects...Saturday night we had some friends over to watch the UFC fight. This is one of the few things that Jason still does with his friends (who are mostly single) so we make it a tradition to get the together about once a month. I enjoyed the girl time, and I KNOW that Jason enjoyed being with his "boys".

I have a few pictures from today - Sunday - of Blaine. We spent midday in the woods in our back yard changing the batteries in Jason's deer camera and putting out corn...I think he is planning to hunt a couple of afternoons this week.

Blaine LOVES being outdoors, and today was definitely the day to be outside with him...he has developed quite the little "tude" lately...sleeping habits have changed a little. We have made some changes in his overall schedule so I think things will work themselves out. I really think he is working himself toward the 1 nap a day schedule, but I am going to follow his lead as I have from the beginning and it'll work itself out. Today was such a nice relaxing day. Jason and I napped both times that Blaine did today (I know...how lazy of us) and we watched a little tv, cleaned and enjoyed each other. Tonight Jason built a fire in the fire pit outside and we sat and talked for about an hour. It was so nice to feel connected to him, and enjoy each other in a relaxing situation...that doesn't happen very much anymore : ) Life is good!!

This week is gonna be a busy one, but a good one. Jason is on first shift all week, so it will feel a little "normal" : ) !!

Unknownnoreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8260693234479806422.post-44024087239584893572009-10-17T20:19:00.021-04:002009-10-19T21:27:46.710-04:00A few days "rest" if that's what you wanna call it : )We started our weekend off with a nice birthday party for Jason's Mom, and it was our FIRST official gathering at our new home. It was a busy day, but I am so glad that we were all able to get together and celebrate Jason's Mom's Birthday, she does so much for us and this was the LEAST that we could have done. Jason was such a big help (and I'm pretty demanding) cooking, AND cleaning up afterward!! I think that Jason' s Mom enjoyed the evening and I can't wait to see her new Pandora bracelet with the charms that she has chosen. Here is a picture of her blowing out her candles on the cake...I forgot the ice cream : )
This morning we had a yard sale and it was nice to purge some "stuff"...I am NOT a "stuff" and "nic nac" kind of person so I wanted to get rid of a lot of things that we didn't want to "transplant" into the new house...we sold a lot, and pretty much gave a lot away too...it was difficult to let go of a few of the nicer things, but I refuse to clutter this new house. Afterward (while Blaine was napping), Jason and I brought all of the Christmas decorations in from the barn and put them in upstairs storage for easy access during the upcoming Holiday Season, AND, we finally cleaned out the garage so that I can pull my car in...now THAT is going to be AWESOME!!! I went out to pick up the lamps that we had made at Towel Town, and Jason and Blaine napped later in the afternoon since Jason had to work tonight.

After Jason went to work Blaine and I played in the living room floor for a long time and strolled around the yard...visited Maverick in his kennel and took some cute pics on the front porch. Here are a few of them...I cannot believe that Blaine will be 9 months old on Monday...his grandma Dawes' Birthday. The three of us are "19th babies" : ) I love how tiny Blaine looks by the front door...I know that 16 or so years from now when I take his prom pictures in the very same spot they will look much different...

It was really COLD this afternoon during our afternoon walk!! I was so excited about it and ready to see it go...until I had to run home during the school day (I left my inhaler at home this morning) and I saw it (our mobile mansion) being dismantled and rolling away. This had been mine and Jason's home for almost 4 years...the longest I have lived anywhere since I left my parent's home for college. This home had served Jason and I well all the way up until it was time for us to start a family. When we decided to have Blaine Jason and I knew that it was time to make a move into something roomier and safer!! Those who know us well know that it was quite a journey from the trailer to the house. It was difficult for us to watch our friends purchase homes while we still lived in the trailer (if that makes sense), but we were focused on our goal. Jason and I wanted to be able to build a home that would grow with us and our family. We had some pretty specific requirements: had to have a garage, had to have a man room, had to have a formal dining area, we wanted 3 bedrooms 2 baths on the first floor and a large unfinished upstairs for storage and future expansion. We weren't going to settle for any less than what we had set our sights on, and we wanted to make sure that we could comfortably afford it. The timing with the economy made for the perfect storm (low interest, bottomed out prices on labor and materials) and we finally are realizing our dream.

We still have a lot of work to do though. Our bathroom fixtures had to be moved slightly to be centered with the sinks and now there is a little bit of touch up painting that needs to be done so we haven't hung the mirrors yet. Lot's of organizing is still in the works, and the blinds have been ordered and we are waiting for them to come in and be hung...the ones in the bedroom are a dark cherry finish so they had to be special ordered...they are in and hung, but the rest of the house are not in yet so we hung a sheet in the living area that we spend the most time... We are having a yard sale on Saturday (weather permitting), and afterward, whether we sell it all or not, we will have a clean garage!! We have a lot of furniture that we are not using in the new house a small dining room suit, end tables, a few pictures, kitchen utensils, a lot of brushed nickle lamps, and accessories. The finish of our fixtures and such are now oil rubbed bronze so we are ditching all of the brushed nickle accessories that we previously had. Maybe after this weekend is over and there is more "stuff" out of our way we can finally get down to the fine details of organizing. Everything is sort of "in place" or at least in the room that it is suppose to be in, and we are working a little bit at the time to get things just right.

I got home pretty late yesterday after a hair appointment and some running around. Jason had put Blaine to bed, taken care of a sick Daisy and was obviously exhausted. We decided to make it a movie night and watched Ghost of Girlfriend Past (I think that's right) and we both enjoyed it and went to bed...not a lot of house work was accomplished, but that was OK we enjoyed the house together...and it was nice.

We are very excited to be hosting our very first family even at our home on Friday. Jason's Mom's birthday is Oct. 19th and for so long she has been planning her own Birthday. We are honored to be hosting her birthday this year and she doesn't have to do one thing but show up. We are so excited to have a dining area that can seat 6 and a bar that can seat several comfortably, a covered porch, and a patio that we can enjoy if the weather is nice. Finally, more than enough room to spread out and not be right underneath one another... We have already invited my family over for a real family dinner too. Not that we haven't ever cooked for our friends and family...but never when we had this much space to breathe!! I love having a home that feels warm and inviting to our friends and family. Jason and I discussed how busy we were going to be, but decided that we should make sure that Blaine got to experience the awesomeness of Fall. I love Fall, it has become by far my favorite season. Fall is when I fell in love with Jason, and every year the smells and the coolness remind me of how it all happened. I remember carving pumpkins with Jason in the fall of 2003 and really not expecting more than a friendship...going to Draughn farm in Leggett and walking down to the waterway with Maverick (that's Jason's lab of almost 12 years)...just feeling so free. I remember visiting the corn maze with a bunch of friends and learning that Jason loved me (even when I wasn't ready to reciprocate, silly me...) This is the time in my life when I learned what was important, and Fall will always be a reminder of this, so I love ALL of the things about Fall!!
Ok...so enough with the mush...

We had an awesome visit to Briley Farms today with Al, Melissa, and Jackson...have I ever mentioned how excited that I am how close together in age they are!! Jackson has changed so much since the last time that I saw him (which was way too long I might add...with all this house business going on...) he is smiling and LAUGHING...he is developing WAY ahead of schedule and I am already convinced that he is going to be a little Einstein!!! You can see in the pictures that I am going to post that he is examining everything and learning so much from his environment. It is just amazing how much babies change in their first couple of months of life. Jackson is beautiful and I am so excited that Blaine will have him to grow up with...if only he were closer we could see him every day!! : )

goats

This was at the duck display

Eventually Blaine actually started to CHEW on the display...

Blaine is obviously ready to play with Jackson...

We ended the afternoon with dinner at Larry's (which was a relief because I was exhausted from moving more stuff when we got home from the pumpkin patch). Everything has turned out more beautiful than we imagined it would and I promise to post pictures by the end of the week...we are still waiting for a few minor details to work themselves out...so check back next week this time and there should be more pictures posted!!Unknownnoreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8260693234479806422.post-77590365489981030472009-10-04T21:07:00.006-04:002009-10-04T22:15:32.526-04:00A little more...WOW today was a busy day. I worked in the mobile mansion for a long time getting things cleaned up for the proud new owners. I know that they are as excited as Jason and I were when we first took ownership, and I want things to be nice for them. Jason did a lot of work in the yard and some running around. He got the tile that we picked out for our backsplash in the kitchen, and he painted our gas tank that we are going to have buried in the back yard for our gas service (so we don't have to rent one from the gas company). Tomorrow is the big day that we are having the house inspected so we are excited that we may be able to have some things moved in as early as tomorrow night. As usual it's a busy week for me. I have a midterm tomorrow night, class Tuesday night, and maybe things will begin to settle in for the week after that.

I wanted to post a few more things from our getaway, I was tethering a connection through my blackberry and uploading was slow. Since I last wrote things have continued to go quickly with the house. By the end of today we will have all of the flooring complete, running water, and by Monday we will be ready for a final inspections AND A MOVE IN!!! : ) Needless to say we are VERY excited. I will post pictures once we get moved in with furniture and ALL!!

As for the break from the chaos Jason left with Blaine on Tuesday and joined his family in Hatteras, NC for a Johnson family vacation. Of Course I had to work (and go to graduate school) so I stayed behind until after work on Wednesday and you better believe that I hopped in my car at 3:30 and rushed to get to my baby...and my husband of course!! It has been a beautiful few days here (as I sit in the living room of the house and overlook the water and the marina). Yesterday was my first day here, and we took the ferry over to Ocracoke Island and strolled the streets, stopped in for a couple of beers at Smacnallys (one of my fav. places), and snuck in some ice cream before we got back on the ferry and headed home. We ended the day with a game of Guesstures with everyone and I must say it was HILARIOUS, and I am NOT really good at it...but it was really fun. Today we have just relaxed up until now...Jason went out fishing this morning with Larry and his grandaddy and when he gets back we are heading to the beach for a bit with Blaine. We plan to come home pretty early tomorrow to check on the house and get ready for the week ahead. Here are a couple of pictures of us enjoying this nice getaway before the chaos of moving in...

Blaine playing with his daddy...

Blaine's first boat ride...

Ocracoke, at Smacnally's

A video of Blaine's first Hatteras trip. I was able to spend a lot of time with the boys this weekend because Jason was off work on Saturday and Sunday. I love it when he is off on the weekends, and particularly Sunday's. Saturday we spent a lot of time at home working around the house, Jason is working on getting the back filling done with the tractor and I did some cleaning inside our current home and played with Blaine. We rode the 4-wheeler together (yep ALL 3 of us) to the farm and saw the pigs and the bull, circled the pond and came home. Saturday night we went to a cook out for Jessica and Brandon, a couple that is renting the tenant house at the farm and Jason invited them, as well as Corey over for the UFC fight that night. I was exhausted by the end of the day...but had a great time with my family and friends. Sunday....Ahhhh good ole' Sunday's. Jason, Blaine and I met Al, Melissa, and Jackson at church and had lunch with my parents afterward. We came home and had dinner with Jason's parents, his grandma, and Michael...boy did we eat that day. Jason finished up the backfilling while I pulled Blaine around in the wagon, and peeled stickers off of the windows in the new house. I wish that every day looked like today did...laid back...no worries...

I love going to church with Jason and Blaine, I feel so close to Jason when we go together, and I love that Blaine gets some play time with other children...he is moving so fast these days and is going to be walking in no time. I love to just grab him and squeeze and smell him as he struggles to get away from me because he just wants to go go go!!

This week has started off as most of them do...FAST. Work today, then dentist appointment, then rush home to spend some time with Blaine before bedtime...he goes to bed so early...7:00 pm but he is exhausted and so DONE by then!! Promise to post new pics of the house tonight...we have light fixtures and it is looking soooooooooo good!!
This week has been an interesting one...Blaine got sick on Sunday evening/night so Monday morning I took off work and Jason and I both took Blaine to the doctor. Since I didn't get a lot of sleep the night before I napped while Blaine napped. I had class in Greenville Monday night so when I got home Blaine was fast asleep... That night for the first time EVER Blaine slept with me. I came home, scooped him up out of his bed and brought him to mine. Jason was on third shift (oh the joys of law enforcement) and I just wanted him to be close to me so that I could hear him breathing. He tossed and turned all night, and so did I. I worked on Tuesday as Blaine seemed a little better, and Jason's Mom always takes care of him and loves him up just like I would! Tuesday night Blaine developed a "croupy" cough and started with the fever again so I stayed at home with him again on Wednesday. I didn't realize how hard it would be to leave him when he is sick. Did I mention that Wednesday Jason and I (as well as Jason's Mom) seemed to develop what Blaine had so that made for a difficult work week. I worked Thursday and today.

On a more personal note I have been trying to get off these last few (ok who am i kidding last 25) pounds that I gained during my pregnancy. I have really been going strong for almost 2 weeks and I have lost almost 10 lbs. I am really starting to feel "normal" again, and I am starting to be proud of how I look again! I am in some of my pre pregnancy clothes and this alone helped to raise my spirits. My goal was to be in the "150s" by the time we go on vacation in another week. I shouldn't have any problem reaching that goal. The problem will be keeping it off while we are ON vacation!! : )

I am really excited about the Hatteras trip coming up with Jason's family. I love Jason's family as if they have been my family my entire life!! Jason is going to go down next weekend and I will join them on Wednesday night...yep that's right Blaine Dawes will be away from me for THREE nights :( I am not really sure how I am going to feel about this, but I will see very soon!!

OK...to the house. We are still hopeful that we will be in or atleast in the process of moving in the first week in October. The electrician is coming on Friday to finish putting up all of the light fixtures and we should have electricity to the house on Monday after the final electrical inspection. Thursday our granite counter tops are being installed and things should roll pretty quickly from there. Friday we are expecting the hardwood to be finished and it will have to sit for the remainder of the weekend with no one, including ourselves allowed in the house. On Monday or Tuesday the plumbing should be completely finished and we should have WATER in the house which means I can CLEAN which I have been dying to do!! The final thing that has to be done is some back filling (Jason's job : ), the patio out back is going to be poured, and carpet (which is going in on Oct. 1), and we hope touchup paint will be done on Oct. 2, so when we
return from the beach we should be set to move in !!! We purchased a lot of furniture last weekend, a dining room suit, a new bedroom suit, and 2 recliners and an accent chair for the living room, we are hoping that it will be in by the time we are ready to move in!! So if anyone would like to join us for a moving/cleaning party the following week, by all means come on!!
